One of the real bummers about touring is that you never get to see your pals play. A lot of our peers have been out on the road too and we end up missing each other. I had my fingers crossed to bump into a few peeps this trip out but its been like ships in the night. Our pals, TELFER, The Stanfields, Matt Andersen, Doc Maclean and many others have been out or are out on the road this trip. I know our pals all understand but it is always nice to have a night off and bump into some fellow musicianeers and have a hang.
We had fun in Lethbridge last night at The Slice after a long ass week of traveling the kootenay mountain range. There was a big sigh of relief as we crept out of the mountains into the prairie flatlands. The drive through the mountains was beautiful and terrifying. We’re now only dealing with prairie white outs instead of steep cliffs. Thats all good with us. I’d rather spin out of control into a ditch than plummet down the side of a mountain. Here’s a few pics of our snowy Kootenay travels….
We’re headed into our last weekend in Alberta now. We hit up the Auditorium Hotel in Nanton tonight for our first visit there. Really looking forward to this show. Tomorrow we hit our home in Calgary, Mikey’s juke Joint. We love this place and have great shows here. We’re expecting more of the same Saturday.
Before I go, I want to mention a few cool things that are happening in the near future….
First – If you listen to CBC Saturday Night Blues with Holger Petersen on Saturday nights you’ll find a little feature on us this week. Thats right. This Saturday night Holger is running an edited version of an interview we did back in the summer. I had a great time chatting with him and it was a real thrill to meet and chat blues with him. So look up your local CBC dial and tune in for a listen.
Second – There is a great Fundraiser happening in the Carleton North High School Theatre on Dec 28th. This is a songwriters circle featuring Tommy Green Jr from Telfer, Andrew Hunter, Jens Jeppesen and myself. All proceeds are being donated to the River Valley Cancer society. I’m real proud to be taking part in this event. The other musicians are all friends of mine and I suspect we’ll have a real good time!!! Tickets Available at: Nissen`s Market; Monquarter Restaurant and Lounge; Magan`s Services (Florenceville); Smith Drugs; Glen`s Grocery; M&D Convenience; Country Card and Gift; Never`s Pharmacy; Ryan`s Pharmacy; and Newnham & Slip Pharmacy. Adults: $12.50 advance or $15.00 at the door; Students: $10.00. There is an Event page on facebook so check it out and c’mon out for some stories and song. All for a good cause.
Third – We’re VERY stoked to announce we’re playing a Show on New Years Eve in Fredericton at the Market with The David Myles Band. This show is presented by Babzee’s Entertainment and Heineken. Ticket info will be coming soon so stay tuned to Facebook and www.babzeesentertainment.com for details. This is going to be a super fun night so if you were wondering what you were going to do for NYE…..well now you know!
Ok so that catches us up a bit! I’m sure I’ve forgotten a detail or two so if you’re missing info don’t hesitate to contact me in some manner or another. Even if it’s just to say hi! I always look forward to hearing from you!
