Sitting at Clintons pub having a beer with the legendary Mark Richardson we decided to hit the roof top bar at Pauper’s Pub just down the street. We thought it best to call first to make sure they are open. They assured us they would be open for another hour at least. No brainer. Enjoy a beer on the roof of a bar? Yes please. We strolled down the street and went up the million stairs to a little rooftop patio. As we approached the bar I could hear “no, no, no, no” from behind the bar. I looked at the bartender and she explained that she was closed. I explained we had called and she continued to say no, no, no, no! With our plans foiled we went downstairs to sit outside for a beer. Luckily the waitress was more pleasant, but it was all for nothing. Shortly after our first round she approached I could tell she was going to say the patio was closing…..Sure enough…one more round then – relocate.
In hindsight we could have stayed right where we were at ole Clintons. Next time we’ll know…..Pauper’s? no thanks.
